I have a TON of dates in this newsletter, but never fear! Not every date applies to every member of choir and many of these dates are completely optional. I have put any information regarding tour in red so those of you not going on tour can skip over those dates. I have only included info/dates up through choir tour.
January:
We have nothing unusual happening outside of school in January. We are wrapping up term 2. Concert reports are due the last day of the term!
February:
Friday, February 3: Final tour payments due (one payment of $200 and one payment of $30)
T-Th, February 7-9: 2017-2018 choir auditions from 2:30-4:00 pm after school or during second lunch. I will be going over the audition process with students in class. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
Friday, February 10: Madrigals callbacks at 2:30 pm
Wednesday, February 15: Optional tour music rehearsal at 2:30 pm (geared towards men's choir and women's choir members going on tour) in the choir room
T-Th, February 21-23: In-Class Performances (this will double as region solo and ensemble auditions)
Wednesday, February 22: Men's Choir Festival @ Box Elder, time TBA (it will be sometime in the afternoon- we will have a bus take the boys and they will do their term 3 concert report there)
March:
Wednesday, March 1: Optional tour music rehearsal at 2:30 pm (geared towards men's choir and women's choir members going on tour) in the choir room
Wednesday, March 8: Choir council will be hosting a movie night in the choir room. We will watch "School of Rock." This is PG-13. Click here for more detailed information on the movie. It is from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Monday, March 13: Optional tour music rehearsal at 2:30 pm (geared towards men's choir and women's choir members going on tour) in the piano lab
Wednesday, March 15: Region solo and ensemble festival @ Bonneville High School 2:00-7:30 pm
Wednesday, March 22: T3 choir concert @ HHS
Monday, March 27: Mandatory tour music rehearsal @ 2:30-3:30 pm in the piano lab
Wednesday, March 29: Women's choir festival @ the U of U @ 5:00-9:00 pm. The girls will do their term 4 concert report at this festival.
April:
Wednesday, April 5: Mandatory tour music rehearsal AND MEETING @2:30- 3:30 pm
Thursday, April 6-Monday, April 10: Choir tour
Special Request:
- If you have any pictures from the holiday concert, the caroling social, and/or any of the holiday madrigals performances, please email them to me- katie.houston@slcschools.org. I'm in the middle of compiling a slideshow with quotes from my students' "Sing to Serve" essays and the pictures that I can share with our administration and our district fine arts specialist.
- I sent out the tour rooming list and the first draft of the tour itinerary through World Strides. If you did not receive these attachments, please email me.
- I will be sending out the permission forms required through the district soon- be watching for those! They will be due at the beginning of February.
- Don't forget that you must have a 2.0 and no more than one 'F' (let's shoot for zero!) on your term 3 report card. This is absolutely non-negotiable in any way, shape, or form. Please don't ask for exceptions. You will have to sell your spot if you want your money back from the trip if you are unable to go on tour due to grades.
