May Choir Notes

Important May Dates:

  • April 29-May 19th:  Purchase banquet tickets online or in person to the treasurer.  Tickets are $5 per person and will include, soup, salad, a breadstick, and a dessert.  Remember, the banquet before the concert is not mandatory, but we will have an awesome dinner show and announce the new choir council for 2019-2020.  Family members are welcome.
  • May 1: Deadline to apply for the "Mr. C." Scholarship. Email all required materials to jennifer.vuich@slcschools.org.  
  • May 1-2: Madrigals, Concert Choir, and En Chantant auditions, 2:30-4 p.m. after school in the choir room.  I will auditions students from the SA/TB Ram choirs during class.  The audition is only 5 minutes and you don't need to prepare anything! Bring your friends!
  •  May 3: Madrigals call-backs (by invitation only)
  • May 10: Choir Council applications due (submit to Ms. Houston)
  • May 14th: Tartanfest from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the commons/cafeteria. There will be an ice-cream sandwich cart plus many visual and performing arts pieces to enjoy by HHS students.  
  • May 20th: Choir banquet + concert and awards
    • 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.: Dinner and a pre-show in the cafeteria (optional; $5 per person)
    • 6:30 p.m. -7:00 p.m.: Slideshow in the auditorium (optional; free)
    • 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.: Concert and awards (mandatory; admission is free)

Assignments Due:
  • Sing to Serve project + 1 page paper due May 31st.  Two options:
    • Go to Tartanfest and support the visual and performing artists by being an audience member.
    • Do a singing service project on your own (sing for an assisted living center, at a family gathering, for the special education classes at HHS, for the preschool, etc.)
  • Performance Observation #4 due May 31st.  There are still plenty of things to see- Rams Act, state festivals, end of the year band/orchestra concerts, etc. 
  • Favorite Song Assignment- you will sign up for a day to present in class.
