Region Solo and Ensemble List, 2020

Here is the list for region solo and ensemble on March 10, 2020 at Murray High School.  I am missing information highlighted in yellow and need it as soon as possible!

Performance times are usually sent by the coordinator a week prior to the event.  This year, the chamber choir festival is a different day so we will not be taking a bus to region solo and ensemble like we normally do.  Parents, if transportation is an issue, please let me know ASAP.

If you have any questions or concerns with the list, please email me and let me know!

Looking Ahead:

    • To make up for the 1.5 hours I am unable to do conferences on March 5, I will be available Wednesday, March 4 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Please email me if you would like one of the Wednesday time slots. I am also happy to do Facetime conferences from the school during that time if you can't make it here in person. I will give you my number via email if you would prefer that route.

Change to the Year Calendar:
  • As many of you know, I'm getting married in March! YAY! Sooooo many students and parents have been ultra supportive of me and my dating life over the years (LOL) and I wish I could invite everyone to my wedding to celebrate with me.  Unfortunately, my wedding budget won't allow for that.  So we've devised a solution: Originally, our choir banquet/term 4 concert was set for Monday, May 18th.  We are changing it to Friday, May 15th and changing the format slightly.  Here is the schedule:
    • 6:00-7:30 pm: Concert and senior awards in the auditorium
    • 7:30 p.m.-9:00 pm: Wedding open house for all choir students, past and present, to come meet my new husband and for me to say thank you and goodbye to all the students and their families who have so richly blessed my life for the past twelve years in Utah (three in Provo, nine in SLC).  ABSOLUTELY NO GIFTS! We will have yummy treats for everyone to enjoy.

December Choir Notes

Monday, December 2: First day of "Secret Snow Person"
  • This is just for fun and not required!
  • Students who want to do it will draw the name of another choir member just before Thanksgiving break.
  • Those participating will get three little gifts (do not spend more than $10 total!).
    • Students should deliver the first gift to the class boxes sometime during the first week of December (clearly labeled!)
    • Second gift should be delivered during the second week of December
    • Third gift should be brought to our "Snow Person Reveal" at 5:45 p.m. on December 18, right before the call time for our winter concert.
Monday, December 2: First day of Performing Arts Department Service Drive (details TBA).

Friday, December 6: Temple Square Performance for En Chantant. Concert Choir, & Madrigals
  • 3:00 p.m.: Meet in choir room dressed and ready to warm-up.
  • 3:15 p.m.: Bus leaves
  • 4:00 p.m.: Perform at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building
  • 4:45-5:45 p.m.: Free time
  • 5:45 p.m.: Meet in basement of Assembly Hall to rehearse and receive instructions
  • 6:30 p.m.: Perform in the Assembly Hall
  • 7:20 p.m.: Load busses

REMEMBER:  Everyone riding the busses MUST RIDE BOTH WAYS!  If parents want to take their kids home, they must also get them to temple square and email me letting me know their kids won't be on the busses at all.  It's too hard to keep track of people riding the bus only one way.  Thank you for helping me with this.

Wednesday, December 11: Choir Council Caroling Social
  • 5:00 p.m.: Meet in the choir room and split in to groups headed up by choir council leaders. We will practice singing a couple winter carols as a group.
  • 5:15 p.m.: Leave to carol in neighborhood. Each group will be assigned 4-6 houses. These people are expecting you and will be happy to hear you sing on their porch.  Please don't go in to any houses- just sing to them in the doorway!
  • 6:00 p.m.: Return to HHS for hot chocolate and treats.
REMEBER: This is not required, but if you come, you can use it as your Sing to Serve project!
