HHS Choir Notes
September 2017 Newsletter
Important September Choir Dates:
- Monday, September 18: Choir council will have a booth set up at the homecoming carnival. Come stop by to support the choir! Stay tuned for more information.
- Thursday, September 21: HHS Madrigals and Madrigals Alumni will sing the School Songs Medley at the Homecoming Assembly. Stay tuned for more info on the time!
- Thursday-Friday, September 27-28: HHS Madrigals go down to Shakespeare Festival to compete in the music portion.
- The choir council is planning a choir opening social for September! We don't have the date chosen yet, but stay tuned for more details!
- In-Class Performances are September 26-28 and October 3 (depending on your class). That gives everyone 3 weeks to prepare!
Assignments:
- You can view the instructions for the NEW CONCERT REPORT FORMAT by clicking the link on the right that says, "Choir Assignments."
- You can also view the instructions for the In-Class Performance there by clicking on the link posted underneath the new Concert Report instructions.
Uniform Updates:
- Mixed Ensemble: Tenor/Baritone/Basses need to get black pants, black shoes, and a black long sleeved button down collared shirt. They will rent a white tie from me that they will return at the end of the year (they don't need to pay for this). Women need a black short sleeve dress that is knee length (or a black skirt and short sleeved black shirt). I have tons of used ones that students are selling back from previous years if you would like to try one on!
- Advanced Women's Choir: We are still working on this.
- Concert Choir: We were able to match up used dresses with all the girls except 6, which is awesome. Those who are buying used dress need to pay the person directly who they are buying it from. Those who are getting new dresses, I will contact you directly about how much they are, where to pay, and by when. Men, you need your tuxedos by the day of the concert on October 17th. A black suit and white collared shirt will work if you already have one and are not planning on joining Madrigals in your future years at Highland. All men need a black bow tie.
- Madrigals: The dresses are in! Wahoo! Men, most of you have a tux, but if you don't, you need it by September 28th.
Fall Concert Info:
- The theme for our fall dessert concert is American Folk Songs. I will send more details as it gets closer, but our dessert theme will be good old fashioned American (pies, red white and blue desserts, etc.). I have a list from the disclosure documents of everyone who said they might be willing to donate desserts or help decorate/organize the desserts. I (or a parent helper) will be contacting you very shortly!
- The concert is Tuesday October 17th. Desserts are served from 6:00-6:50 and the concert begins at 7:00 p.m. We will pre-sell dessert tickets 2 weeks before.
The choirs this year are out of this world! I can't WAIT for our first concert together!
