March Choir Notes + Region List

We are in festival season! There is a lot going on, so make sure you read carefully and mark your calendars.

Important March Dates:

• Tuesday, March 5: Region Solo and Ensemble Festival
• Chamber Choir portion: 2:00-4:00 p.m., auditorium of Murray HS
• All Madrigals must ride the bus to this event. Parents, email me if you would like to pick up your student after his/her events are over.
• Students must meet dressed and ready by 1:10 p.m. We will leave promptly at 1:15 p.m.
• Solo and Ensemble portion: 4:00-7:30 p.m., various classrooms of Murray HS
• Students performing at region who are not in Madrigals can ride the bus. The bus leaves at 1:15 p.m. and will return home after the last performer (which could be as late as 8:00 p.m.).  Parents, email me if your child wants to ride the bus either there, back, or both.  
• Students may use this for a performance observation.
• All students performing must do the following: 
1. Dress their very best
2. Bring an ORIGINAL COPY of their music (if purchased online, highlight the permission statement)
3. Number every measure in the music
4. Bring judging sheet
• Tuesday, March 12: Training Choir Festival @ HHS, 3:00-4:50 p.m.
• This is mandatory for both SA Ram Choir and TB Ram Choir (worth 50 points).
• Students should meet in the choir room, dressed and ready to perform, @ 2:45 p.m.
• Ram TB performs at 3:00 p.m. and Ram SA performs at 4:30 p.m.
• Both choirs are expected to stay the entire time.  This can be used for a performance observation.
• Thursday, March 14: Choir Social, 2:30-4:00 p.m. in the choir room (not mandatory)
• Monday, March 18: Term 3 Choir Concert @ 7 pm in the HHS auditorium (call time is 6:15). This is worth 100 points and mandatory for ALL choir students!
• Friday, March 22: Last day of term! Performance Observations are due.  All tour forms are due.

Looking ahead to April:

Monday, April 8: En Chantant performs @ Hillside at 8:30 a.m.
Monday, April 8: En Chantant performs @ William E. Cristofferson SL Veteran's Home @ 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday, April 9: Large Choir Festival (Mandatory for both En Chantant and Concert Choir; worth 50 points and can be used for performance observation.)
Saturday, April 27: State Solo and Ensemble at Northridge HS

REGION SOLO AND ENSEMBLE ENTRANTS:

Here is the list of people I've selected to advance to region solo and ensemble on March 5th. Congratulations to all! I am missing a lot information that I need on the spreadsheet, which I've indicated with question marks.  Please email it to me ASAP.
